MIGHTY KINGDOM HQ

KENT_TOWN, SOUTH AUSTRALIA

The brief for the Kent Town headquarters of mobile-game developer Mighty Kingdom required the incorporation of a private and public program. In order for testing and exhibition to the public, a separate arcade area is used to contribute to the games development process as well as attract public interest and clients. By utilizing separate paths of public and private entry, public circulation is filtered through a central arcade. With private overlooking mezzanine, the arcade can be used by Mighty Kingdom developers to observe and foster public engagement. Consisting of a panoramic display system, the use of flip-dot display panels can be used as a variable framework to augment reality and complement the mobility of handheld gaming. Circulation of public access is then directed throughout the headquarters, allowing guests to non-intrusively observe developer work flow. Using a steel grate shading system along this public walkway, passing guests are allowed a filtered view of the company workings below. These external walkway and balcony bordering the studio and meeting spaces then function as a gallery/exhibition space, allowing developers to gage feedback and guide the development process.
